Source text - English When evaluating trace DNA recovered from evidential items in forensic casework, it is crucial to consider how the DNA got there, and such evaluative interpretations should ideally be informed by published experimental data. A key activity-level question is whether the DNA obtained comes from the regular user, the last user (ostensibly the user at the time of the crime) or from indirect transfer events. The aim of this experiment was to provide data to contribute to answering this question, particularly when considering opportunistic crimes, in which an offender might grab the nearest item at hand required for their purpose, e.g. a weapon or tool, and therefore only handle it very briefly. Translation - Korean 범죄 사건의 증거로부터 DNA를 조사시 중요한 것 중 하나가 DNA가 어떻게 그 증거물까지 묻었느냐의 과정이다. 그리고 그 과정에 대한 해석이 실험 자료 발표 때에 포함되는 것이 좋다. 여기서 물어봐야 하는 질문은 이 DNA가 물건의 주인으로부터 묻었는지, 제일 마지막에 접촉자으로부터 묻었는지(주로 범죄 현장에서의 사용자) 아니면 간접적인 전달로 묻었는지의 여부이다. 실험의 목적은 위의 질문들에 대한 대답, 특히 우발적인 범죄 시, 범인이 근처의 물건(무기나 도구 등)을 아무거나 짧은 시간 내에 잡고 공격하였을 때에 대한 대답을 목표로 하고있다. 실험 지원자('계속 사용하던 사용자')는 칼을 사용해 지정된 사용방법을 행했다. (복수의 지원자가 각각 하나의 칼을 가지고 행함); 미니테이프로 DNA를 수복해 보니 ˜1-10 ng의 DNA가 검출됬다. 간접적 전달로 발생한 지원자의 것이 아닌 DNA는 16% 미만이었다. 다른 지원자 그룹('두번째 사용자')은 일상적으로 계속 사용되던 칼을 스트로폼 블록에 주어진 상황에 따라 2초, 30초, 60초씩 찔렀다. 칼에서 검출된 DNA는 첫번째 그룹과 비교해 세 배 증가했다. 이때 DNA는 미니테이프를 이용해 칼 손잡이에서 채집되었다. 계속 사용하던 사람과 두번째 사용자의 DNA양을 비교해 봤을때 전체 지원자의 4분의 3 정도의 인구에서 각 2초, 30초, 60초의 시간 당 4:1, 2:1, 1:1의 비율이 나왔다. 분석은 충분한 DNA를 사용해 진행 되었고 그에 따른 결과를 토대로 보이는 규칙에 따르면, 두번째 사람이 칼을 쓰면 쓸 수록 DNA 양이 더 늘어나는 것이 아니라, 원래 사용하던 사람의 DNA가 두번째 사용자가 사용함에 따라 줄어드는 것으로 보인다. 허나, 네번째 사용자가 칼을 사용했을 경우,두번째 사용자가 찌른 시간과 상관없이 두번째 사용자나 다른 요소에 비해, 원래 사용하던 사람의 DNA가 훨씬 더 많이 검출되었다. 또한, 어떤 지원자는 통상적인 칼 사용을 했을 때, 다른 지원자의 손을 통한 간접적 이동으로 인해 축적된 DNA만큼의 DNA가 축적되었다. 이러한 관찰은 우리가 맹목적으로 DNA의 양에 대한 정보 분석만을 믿을 수 없다고 말해준다. 범인의 프로파일링이나 다른 혼합된 측면들도 기준에 들어가야 할 것이다. 이와 같은 활동의 결과로 얻을 수 있는 다양한 프로파일링의 통계를 더 얻기 위한 나은 실험을 행한다면 더욱 활용성을 높일 수 있을 것이다.
