Source text - English As kids across the United States head back to school this month, Nike athletes Serena Williams, Ashton Eaton, Paul Rodriguez, Sarah Reinertsen, Allyson Felix and Colin Kaepernick are front and center, talking about the importance of their early experiences with physical activity in school and urging individuals and communities to sign up their schools to be Active Schools through the Let’s Move! Active Schools initiative.
Serena Williams opens the one-minute public service announcement: “It was really important for me to get outside and play because I felt like I needed a break from the classroom. I loved going to school, but at the same time I wanted to be active.”
Each athlete gives a personal insight, including Colin Kaepernick, who says, “Anything you can do to help yourself be better in the future is something you want to do. And I think that’s something that has helped me get to where I’m at today.”
Research shows that active kids do better. They score up to 40% higher on tests and are 15% more likely to go to college. They also have better school attendance, increased concentration and better behavior in class. But when kids spend 6-7 hours in school without movement, they don’t reap those rewards. Statistics like these and more can be found in the Designed to Move Framework for Action released in September 2012 that exposes the growing physical inactivity crisis and presents a clear way forward.
Let’s Move! Active Schools, is First Lady Michelle Obama’s initiative to get schools to provide 60 minutes of physical activity a day before, during and after school. Active Schools integrate physical activity throughout the day and are committed to creating early, positive experiences in sport and physical play at school.
In February, Nike announced a $50 million commitment to support Let's Move! Active Schools to get kids active and engage 50,000 schools in the next five years in the program. Since launching in February, more than 3,700 schools have signed up at LetsMoveSchools.org to be active schools, building on the knowledge that active kids do better.
“It’s so important to get kids moving. We know that when they do get moving they do better in school, and they do better all around,” adds Allyson Felix.

Škole aktivnosti integrišu fizičku aktivnost tokom dana i posvećene su kreiranju ranih, pozitivnih iskustava u sportu i fizičkoj igri u školi.

Source text - English What’s Twitch? Gamers Know, and Amazon Spent $1 Billion on It
The video in video games is suddenly a billion-dollar business.
Video games have long been something people played. But in the last few years, thanks in part to fast Internet access and multiplayer games, the games have become something that people sit back and watch, too. On Monday, that new habit enticed the web giant Amazon to reach a $1.1 billion deal to buy Twitch, the most popular website for watching people play games.
The deal for Twitch is the latest sign of the way forms of behavior once seemingly on the fringe can, in the hands of tech entrepreneurs, turn into huge online communities in no time. Twitch did not exist a little over three years ago, and it now has 55 million unique viewers a month globally, helping turn games into a spectator event as much as a participatory activity.
Those millions of eyeballs are valuable to web companies, and Amazon, although usually known for its retailing, is no exception. To win in its bid for Twitch, Amazon had to outmaneuver a who’s who of the tech world, including Google — strongly suggesting that these companies think the era of video-game viewing is just starting.

(Twich)?
English to Bosnian: Excerpt from the book "Introducing Translation Studies" ; članak iz knjige „Uvođenje u studije prevođenja“ General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Linguistics
Source text - English CORPUS-BASED TRANSLATION STUDIES
In the first edition of this book, written in 2001, we concluded with an interdisciplinary case study using corpus linguistics tools to assist in the analysis of a literary text. At that time, the ‘corpus-based approach’, as it has become known, was being suggested as a ‘new paradigm in translation studies’ (Laviosa 1998a). The approach drew on the tools and techniques of monolingual (mainly English) corpus linguistics that had initially been developed in the early 1980s by the late John Sinclair and his team working on the COBUILD English Dictionary project at Birmingham, UK (Sinclair 1987, 1991). The rapid evolution of computer systems meant that it was possible to create an electronic corpus (plural corpora) of naturally-occurring texts (i.e. texts which had been written for a communicative context and not artificially invented by the language researcher) that could then be processed and analysed with software to investigate the use and patterns of the word-forms it contained. The major reason for using computer corpora was the quality of linguistic evidence, particularly on collocations and typical uses of lexical items, vastly superior to the analyst’s intuition (Sinclair 1991: 42).
Different types of corpus:
• monolingual corpora, large collections of texts which may be analysed for naturalness (e.g. by translators translating into their L2). In addition, it is important to add that such monolingual corpora, such as the British National Corpus and the Cobuild Bank of English may serve as representative reference corpora, a yardstick of the language against which to measure deviation (see below).
• comparable bilingual corpora, which are normally specialized collections of similar STs in the two languages and which can be ‘mined’ for terminology and other equivalences (cf. Bowker and Pearson 2002).
• parallel corpora, of ST–TT pairs, which, when aligned (sentence by sentence or paragraph by paragraph), can allow the strategies employed by the translator(s) to be investigated (cf. Kenny 2001).
Translation - Bosnian STUDIJE PREVOĐENJA, ZASNOVANE NA KORPUSU
• jednojezički korpusi, jesu velike kolekcije tekstova, koji se mogu analizirati radi prirodnosti (npr. kada prevodioci prevode na njihove L2). Nadalje, važno je dodati da takvi jednojezički korpusi, kao što je Britanski nacionalni korpus (British National Corpus) i Cobuildova banka engleskog jezika (Cobuild Bank of English), mogu služiti kao reprezentativni korpusi referenci - kriterij za jezik prema kojem se mjere odstupanja (vidi dolje);
• komparativni dvojezički korpusi, koji su obično specijalizovane kolekcije od sličnih izvornih tekstova (STs) iz dva jezika, i koji mogu biti „rudnik“ za terminologiju i druge ekvivalencije (usp. Bowker i Pearson, 2002);
Kenny, 2001).
English to Serbian: Excerpt from the book "An Introduction to Applied Linguistics";
Source text - English SOURCE AND TARGET
The urgent question mark against applied linguistics is this: just what is its source, what exactly is being applied? If the interpretation of applied linguistics is very narrow so that what is being applied is only linguistics, then because linguistics, like other theoretical disciplines, deals with idealisations, it appears to have very little to say about the language-related problems in what we call the real world. If applied linguistics is interpreted very broadly, then it must concern itself with everything to do with language. Neither position is tenable.
Linguistics, it seems, must play an important role in applied linguistics but by no means the only role. Applied linguistics must also draw on psychology, sociology, education, measurement theory and so on.
It may be that we shall gain a clearer picture of the nature of applied linguistics if we turn our attention away from the source (what applied linguistics draws on) to its target (what applied linguistics equips you to do). The target clearly cannot be anything and everything to do with language. Corder’s solution (Corder 1973) was to focus on language teaching, widely interpreted and therefore including, for example, speech therapy, translation and language planning. Such narrowing of the target still makes sense today, which is why most of the entries in the Glossary of Applied Linguistics (Davies 2005a) have some connection with language teaching.
My reasoning is that it remains true that many of those who study applied linguistics have been and will continue to be involved at some level in language teaching, which is, after all, the largest profession involved in language studies. This is not to say, once a language teacher always one: some, perhaps many, of those who engage with applied linguistics move on to research, administration and so on. But in preparing the Glossary I have found it helpful to provide myself with this constraint on what it is we claim as applied linguistics.
(Ijekavian dialect)

Source text - English A term that is also used in discussions about teaching is 'model' - used to describe typical procedures or sets of procedures, usually for teachers in training. Such models offer abstractions of these procedures, designed to guide teaching practice. Confusion occurs when these models are elevated to the status of methods, since their purpose is pedagogic in terms of training, rather than inspirational as statements of theoretical belief.
The way in which people announce and develop new teaching practices can make discussions of comparative methodology somewhat confusing. Some methodologists, for example, have new insights and claim a new 'approach' as a result. Others claim the status of method for a technique or procedure. Some methods start as procedures and techniques which seem to work and for which an approach is than developed. Some approaches have to go in search of procedures and techniques with which to form a method. Some methods are explicit about the approach they exemplify and the procedures they employ. Others are not.
What the interested teacher needs to do when confronted with a new method, for example, is to see if and/or how it incorporates theories of language and learning. What procedures does it incorporate? Are they appropriate and effective for the classroom situation that the teacher works with? In the case of techniques and activities, two questions seem worth asking: are they satisfying for both students and teachers, and do they actually achieve what they set out to achieve?
Popular methodology includes ideas at all various levels we have discussed, and it is these methods, procedures, approaches (and models) which influence the current state of English language teaching.

Šta to procedure uključuju?

Source text - English In order to ensure the goal of the Blue Board, a set of Blue Board rules has been created. Use of the Blue Board that may violate any of these rules as well as ProZ.com general rules is not allowed.
You may only make entries for clients with whom you have worked on a project and to whom you have delivered work on time and without complaints related to quality. You may not make entries solely on the basis of negotiations, test translations, or other preliminary interactions.
If you have worked on a project with a client but were late or otherwise negligent in delivering work, you may not make an entry for that client. The Blue Board may not be used to threaten outsourcers.
LWA entries and comments accompanying entries are checked by site staff before they are made visible to make sure they are strictly focused on Likelihood of Working Again. This is clearly described in Blue Bord rule #7.
'Self-entries' by outsourcers (or by users representing an outsourcer) are not permitted.
Avoid comments that:
- contain offensive language
- include generalizations about the outsourcer
- explicitly discourage others from working with the oustourcer
- contain advertising
You may make one entry per outsourcer per year--provided that you have worked for the outsourcer again before adding an additional entry.
LWA entries which are made and prove to be in violation of Blue Board rule 2 or Blue Board rule 6 will be removed by site staff. Users who make repeated LWA entries which violate these rules may at site staff's discretion find their use of the LWA system temporarily or permanently blocked.
