English to Serbian: excerpt from Geostatistic tools for modeling and interpreting ecological spatial dependence by Richard E. Rossi (Ecological Monograph, vol.62, No 2 , p 312)
Source text - English Geostatistics offer the ecologist a wide and flexible variety of tools to organize and summarize spatial patterns. The frequently complex interaction between organism and environment necessarily plays itself out in space. Traditional statistical measures often neglect spatial relationships because samples are assumed independent. Applied statistical methods, such as geostatistics are needed in ecology for modeling the strenght and areal extent of that spatial correlation. The geostatistical toolbox contains many instruments for characterizing not only the spatial continuity inherent in organism' s distribution or the spatial dependence of suspected environmental components, but also the spatial interdependence between the organism and its environment.
Translation - Serbian Geostatistika nudi ekolozima širok i fleksibilan varijetet sredstava radi organizovanja i objedinjavanja uzoraka. Vrlo često, kompleksna međuzavisnost organizama i okruženja u kome žive zadaje im probleme u prostoru.

Source text - English The glorious North American autumn came to a close. We had been on the job for three months without having solved our assignment yet, while the other surveying parties had already returned home. There were two reasons why.
Firstly, we had two very difficult regions to cover. The railroad was to run over prairie country and follow the southern Canadian River; the direction was, therefore, given, right up to the source of the river, while the lay of the valleys and passes likewise dictated the route through New Mexico. Our section, however, was situated between Canadian and New Mexico and we were forced to reconnoitre and discover the most suitable route first. That required time consuming rides, arduous walks and the taking of many trial measurements for comparison before we could begin the actual work. The fact that the region was also made dangerous because of roaming Kiowa, Comanche and Apache bands, who didn't want to know about having a railroad constructed through a landscape they considered was theirs, compounded the matter. We had to be on our guard constantly, which severely impeded our activity, of course, and slowed us down.
We had to forego hunting, as shooting would have alerted the Red Indians to our presence. Instead, we procured everything we required from Santa Fe, delivered by ox-carts. Unfortunately, that transport was unreliable and we were forced to interupt our survey work repeatedly to wait for the arrival of the carts.
The second reason was the composition of our party. As mentioned, I had received a cordial welcome by the chief engineer and the other three surveyors in St. Louis. Such a welcome had led me to anticipate good and productive cooperation; unfortunately, I was mistaken in that respect.
