the production environment
In IT-departments there is often a development environment, which mirrors the actual "real" environment. This is usually where all development and testing is done before being released to the real environment. In my different jobs the real environment has usually been called the "production" environment.

Example:
Deploying Reports to a Production Environment
Once you have designed and tested a report or set of reports, you use Report Designer to publish the reports to a production report server. The process for publishing to a test server and to a production server is the same. (Microsoft.com)
Another example can be found at:
http://www.atg.com/repositories/ContentCatalogRepository_en/...
Here the development environment is called \"staging\"

: That's the term we used at GE (in a very large computer centre). We had a triplicated system - Test, to develop and test systems, QA (Quality Assurance, a duplicate of production but no customer access for realistic testing) and Production.
