If a camarera de piso es a chambermaid, what is a camarero de piso? A male chambermaid?
Many thanks for any better suggestion (UK English)

agree Marian Vieyra : This sounds like an Americanism to me, but it is used here in the UK as well. Never had a male room attendant anywhere in the world.

housekeeper

Chambermaid is a bit oldfashioned and gender specific these days.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Carol Gullidge : decades ago, I moonlit at a hotel on Park Lane. There was one Housekeeper in charge of the chambermaids on each floor; the chambermaids had to clean a number of suites per day, which were inspected by the Housekeeper. In the UK, they are not synonymous

And I used to work in a hotel in Croydon and they were called housekeepers :-) You can't generalise about an entire country from one hotel. Also, as Karen points out, chambermaids can't be male.
disagree Noni Gilbert Riley : gobernanta = housekeeper - another female job title!/Changed since I need to be more emphatic about this not being right instead of diplomatic. In my previous EFL persona I taught English at arange of hotels in Spain - the Paradores, the Melia chain, etc.

disagree Marian Vieyra : With Carol & Noni - c/maid and housekeeper different species, notwithstanding your Croydon experience.
