this is an interesting turn on the phrase "the calm before the storm" but note the consistent structure...I also see you'll have to play with the words a bit since there is no verb in this standard phrase

: That would be 'la calma después de la tormenta'. There IS a verb in the proverb. The proverb in English WITH the verb is ''after the storm comes the calm". //The noun phrase derives from the proverb. I'm familiar with both.

sorry Michele, I disagree with your disagreement -- not with your assessment of the structure, but of the currency of the phrase as I know it ---- more than one way to translate phrases, often, and this is a perfect example.

It is an English proverb. The expression 'the calm after the storm' derives from this proverb but can't be used in the same way as the proverb or the equivalent Spanish 'refrán'.

: That's a different saying. // Yes, the meaning is very similar (though not identical), but the saying "after the storm comes the calm" is equivalent in both structure and meaning to "después de la tormenta llega la calma".
