I've also seen it translated as "polishing/polishes", and I think it's a valid choice. Saludos/Regards!

Hi Ruth: I nearly always agree with your comments; however, I think this wording reflects the ("awkward"?) choice of words of the original motto. In any case, it's always a pleasure to receive feedback from you. Saludos/Regards!
disagree Translator78 : "Cleaning, fixing and giving" are gerunds that are translated as "Limpiando, fijando y dando" in my opinion. "Limpia, fija y da" are verbs conjugated in the third-person singular so I think the translation is "Cleans, fixes (or sets) and gives splendor".

"clean, standardize and grant splendour"

Pero, a pesar de que es el lema de RAE, eso de "limpia" , particularmente me suena a "detergente". Si el objetivo es "depurar" el idioma de las influencias de otros, especialmente el Inglés yo pondría:

REFINE, STANDARIZE AND GRANT SPLENDOUR"

disagree Translator78 : Si bien es cierto que lo importante es transmitir el significado o espíritu de la traducción, en este caso la Academia posiblemente ya pensó las palabras y no usó el lema "Refina, estandariza y otorga esplendor".

I prefer the term fix because it gives the idea of language acknowledgement in the learner.
