I lived in Mexico many years and this is how I explained "atoles" to "gringos". I think you could write de Spanish with "" and explain what it is between brackets. Good luck!

The correct spelling in Spanish should be "atole". It is a corn based drink that goes along very nicely when eating tamales. It can also come in various flavors such as vanilla, strawberry, nut or pecan (nuez), and chocolate. Chocolate flavored atole is also known as "champurrado".
