Whilst these abbreviations have been noted, I am not totally confident that they fit the context here, where the writer has just described procedures carried out in the A+E Department. It is possible that it refers to a visual apperception test, since there was a minor head injury. I am also inclined to agree that it is an English-language abbreviation, since there are several such abbreviations in the text.
