medico-legal report

I believe it means it has medico-legal implications, but is not a legal document in the law sense.
Peer comment(s):

neutral buadog : it would be THE essential evidence in a suit for damages sustained by a person, it doesn't get more legal than that. Additionally, there are severe legal consequences for negligence in drafting it... and so on.

forensic doctor

would be my guess
Peer comment(s):

disagree Muriel Vasconcellos (X) : We say "coroner" in English. And "physician" is preferred over "doctor" in any serious context.

Coroner's Report

'The following is a complete transcript of the Coroner's Report handed down into the death of Michael Hutchence by NSW Coroner, Derek Hand. ...' Context: boyfriend of the late Paula Yates, wife of Bob Geldorf.

NB 1. the rank of the Span. doctor should roughly be the same as a UK Coroner.
2. Medico-Legal is used: indeed there is a Society by that name in the UK.
3. Forensic (lit. in court) medicine is also used, though forensic (for the court) evidence is strictly a misnomer for medical ev.

medical legal opinion

Dictamen is usually expert opinion (testimony in court).

See: http://www.bcma.org/public/news_publications/publications/20...

• Fee item 19932 – Medical Legal Report – $765 – applicable to all physicians
• Fee Item 19933 – Medical Legal Opinion – $1275 – applicable to specialists
with relevant qualifications or other physicians with recognized expert
knowledge

Therefore a medical legal report is not the same as a medical legal opinion. With the opinion commanding a higher fee and greater qualification, I would imagine that this is what would be required in a court of law.
