Conservatorio de Musica de buenos Aires

Spanish to English Art/Literary Linguistics translation
Hola a todos:

La oración dice: Alberto Williams funda el Conservatorio de Música de Buenos Aires.

encontré diferes traducciones.

tengo una duda sobre la traducción de los nombres de lugares, por ejemplo: Teatro de la Comedia, Conservatorio de musica, Asociación del Futbol Argentino.

Estos nombres se traducen? o queda a criterio del traductor? Encuentro en algunos sitios la traducción de estos términos y en otros casos los dejan en Español.

Gracias

leave it in Spanish

It's a unique institution, like the other examples you mention, and there's no reason to translate it - even someone who spoke no Spanish would understand what it means. For instance, no one translates the name of Amsterdam's Concertgebouw orchestra.

Buenos Aires Conservatory of Music

The first time it's mentioned, I might use the original Spanish and put the translation in parenthesis.

As for including "of Music," given the existence of other types of conservatories (e.g., of art and of science), it might be appropriate.

I hope this helps!
Cheers from the Mariana Islands :-)

agree Charles Davis : "Of Music" could be omitted; it is understood. "Conservatory" is standard in American English and "Conservatoire" in British English. I nearly always translate such names.
