Spanish term

ratificar

Spanish to English Law/Patents Stock purchase agreement
Its not ratify...is it?

I would use "formalize" but I am having an insecure moment...so could someone confirm that this is O.K. or offer a better suggestion...thanks!

disagree rhandler : The parts are entering into a private instrument. Later, they will ratify taht instrument by entering into a public deed, before the Notary Public.

They will acknowledge it by a notarized contract of sale recorded at a Notary Office. I stand by my reply.

ratify

sure, just like a treaty. If you really dislike ratify, you could use <confirm>, but it's not quite as precise.

notarize

when you go "before the notary" in Latin legal systems you do so to have documents notarized, no?
Peer comment(s):

disagree rhandler : The public deed is going to be issued by the Notary Public, not just notarized.

agree Lila del Cerro : Yes, Jane, the parties execute the deed before a Notary Public who only issues the necessary attestations.

Fine, but it it still notarized because we have no other way to say, it's just like France and Spain

Promise / Final Deed

As in your other question, I suggest wording this provision in the agreement so that the parties first enter a Promise and then a Final Deed.
