What is this term of civil status in a listing from Guatemala? List includes the usual suspects of (1) soltero, (2) casado, (3) **unido**, (4) viudo, (5) divorciado. Could this be living together or cohabiting?

Marital status: unmarried partners
This seems to be widely used in the UK, at least, so is a pretty PC option.

: yes, and this is "country neutral" - we should not assume that there is a "special" status for co-habitees in Guatemala, abd risk confusing the reader

Good point. Thank you.

Comment: "This was a great discussion and a thoughtful choice, but I picked "unmarried partners" precisely because it is the most country neutral. Best would have been a Guatemalan term (which we never heard) with the US or UK equivalent (depending on the target reader) on it, but on a little form like this, where's the room?! :-)"

: but if there is no such thing in Guatemala, is it a good translation? Would it not mislead the reader?

Marital Status: domestic partner
The term that would be used in the United States is domestic partner. According to Black’s, domestic partnership is the following: “1. A nonmarital relationship between two persons of the same or opposite sex who live together as a couple for a significant period of time. …”
According to Black’s, civil union is “a marriage-like relationship, often between members of the same sex, recognized by civil authorities within a jurisdiction.”
The term cohabiting could include family members and roommates as well.
The term unmarried partners could also denote two people that have a relationship but don’t necessarily live together.

Discussion
Or should we simply provide an understandable translation that is either a) specific to the country where the text comes from or b) understandable by any English speaker, but "country neutral"
As far as I am aware there is no such entity as a "civil union" or "civil partnership" in Guatemala, so hence my question
