Spanish term

referentes

Spanish to English Other International Org/Dev/Coop
The sentence I need to translate is a comment on a Spanish language text - hence the inclusion of the Spanish followed by the English in square brackets:

In the same sentence, I would also suggest changing the word ‘entrenadores’ [trainers] for ‘referentes’ [reference persons].

What exactly do they mean by a 'referente' in this context? Are they local experts or providers of information? Are they some kind of facilitator or arbitrator?

------------

The Spanish text they wish to change currently reads:

La información debe:
- Ser proporcionada por personal culturalmente apropiados, en ubicaciones culturalmente
apropiadas, e incluir el desarrollo de capacidades por parte de entrenadores indígenas o
locales;

How would you describe a 'referente indigena o local'?

Any thoughts are mightily appreciated - thanks in advance!

It should be facilitators to match your plural form.

"an indiginou or local point of reference..."
Referente doesn't actually appear in the context, in a sentence....

reference persons (referentes) = indigenous or local models, models of indigenous or local culture

models = persons for others to model themselves on (as opposed to actively training or coaching others as "entrenedores", which is the word being replaced)

Thanks for your very useful support!
