Spanish term

entenados

Spanish to English Social Sciences History
This is from text by an Argentine sociologist:

Apparently, it means stepchild, but the use is clearly figurative here... but I am not sure what the equivalent would be. Usurpers?

Thanks

cronies

synonyms for crony: friend, companion, bosom friend, intimate, confidant, confidante, familiar, associate, accomplice, comrade

it seems the most likely English language term for the idea of a figurative "relative" or "stepchild" who is receiving illicit benefits under the table
