Spanish term

desde el ano

Spanish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Franchise Agreement
1º Que el Franquiciador es una empresa dedicada a la venta de productos y servicios informáticos de todo tipo, desde el año mediante una red de tiendas en régimen de franquicia.

I am having trouble placing this correctly!!, The term means the year, however could this be a year?

my attempt: Franchiser is a company that sells computer products and services of all kinds, through a Franchise network established throughout the country since a year.

Since a year does not sound right... does this then suggest in the year in which franchise was established?somaybe for one yeR?

Thank you all in advance

johncouceiro Jun 10, 2011:
I think within the context of the statement it should read, "during the year in course".

Thanks Lisa,

Yes something missing! Should have noticed ,I have just looked at a previous franchise agreement and it should be desde el ano XX.

Thank you
Maidul Islam Jun 10, 2011:
Agree Yes I agree with that something is missing after "año" , or it should be "años"
Lisa McCarthy Jun 10, 2011:
'For a year' / 'since a year ago' would read 'durante un año' / hace un año' so I don´t think they mean that.
Lisa McCarthy Jun 10, 2011:
Something missing? Looks like it could be 'since (whatever year)', because as it stands it doesn´t make sense.

since the year ....

Is it possible that there was a blank (in order to fill out the year) , but actually was not filled out before the document was printed?

Good luck.

for one year

In spite of being important, sometimes those documents are not very well written. With the context you have provided, I would understand that they have been in business for one year.
Maybe, to be on the safe side, the best idea would be to contact your client and ask, if possible.
I want to make very clear that I am considering this translation only for this specific case. I would not add it to any glossary.
My example sentence is your sentence with some slight changes, including my translation of desde el año.
Example sentence:

That the franchisor is a company which supplies all kinds of computer products and services through a Franchise network that has been established throughout the country for one year.
