Spanish term

adquirencia

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Credit Card processes

I understand the "banco o institución financiera" above is called the "acquiring bank" or "acquirer" in English and the "comercio" is called the "merchant", but what about this process?

Discussion

Juriscribe Jun 7, 2015:
This is actually the equivalent of what we refer to in the U.S. as "merchant payment processing". This is also made clear from the definition provided.
BristolTEc (asker) Feb 16, 2007:
I think the point here is that I "purchase" the TV from the retailer (merchant), say, but that isn't really the whole transaction. In reality I pay my Credit Card "issuing bank", it pays the "acquiring bank" (less) and they pay the merchant (less still) - it is the process between the last two. If we say "purchase, the obvious transaction is between me and the merchant

acquistion

Wouldn't this do? "Acquiring (process)" sounds rather forced.

Just found "merchant acquisition" on Google. I think it's what you're looking for.
