Hola.
Estoy traduciendo un artículo sobre platos típicos de Argentina y me encontré con el siguiente problema:

Según Wikipedia, las milanesas a la napolitana son "Milanese alla Neapolitan", lo cual no me convence mucho y es por eso que he decidido preguntar a la comunidad.

Hi JoseAlejandro. But where does your option of "chicken fried steak" leave the breading, the ham, the cheese and the tomato sauce? On the other hand, not all "milanesas" are made with chicken, you know.... Saludos/Regards!

If I were describing this colloquially I'd coin a new dish from 2 existing ones: "cordon bleu parmesan" (because cordon bleu has ham and cheese inside, and parmesan has tomatoes and cheese on top). But that's crazy, and here it's topped with mozarella.

Milanesa
Milanesas (plural) are a common meat dish mostly in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay as well as in other American countries at a lesser extent, such as Mexico, where breaded meat filet preparations are known as a milanesa (Beef is bife a milanesa and chicken is frango a milanesa in Portuguese).
Milanesas were brought to Argentina from Central European immigrants. And it's similar to the Central European Wiener Schnitzel and derive their name from the original cotoletta alla milanese from Milan, Italy.[1] [2]

A milanesa consists of a thin slice of beef, or sometimes chicken or veal. Each slice is dipped into beaten eggs, seasoned with salt, and other condiments according to the cook's taste (like parsley and garlic). Each slice is then dipped in breadcrumbs (or occasionally flour) and shallow-fried in oil, one at a time. Some people prefer to use very little oil and then cook them in the oven as a healthier alternative.

milanesa a la napolitana

No creo que se pueda traducir el término. Lo máximo que podés hacer es acotarle una explicación. Es un plato muy típico de estos lares y no habrá traducción para otras lenguas.

Milanese a la Neapolitan es una traducción literal que el autor del texto de Wikipedia en inglés le dio al plato para que su lector tuviera una idea mejor de lo que hablaba.

No se llama así por la ciudad de Nápoles, en Italia, sino por la pizzería Napoli de José Napoli, donde se vendió por primera vez en Buenos Aires a finales de la década de los 30 del siglo XX. Se la llamaba milanesa a la Napoli.

No es sencillo encontrar un término fácil, pues ya de por sí la palabra "milanesa" deriva del concepto "cotoletta alla milanese"

The classic cotoletta is cotoletta alla milanese (milanese after its place of origin, Milan), which is somewhat similar to Wiener schnitzel, but is "bone-in", braised in clarified butter and traditionally uses veal exclusively from suckling calves.

Entonces, este plato tan conocido en ambas orillas del Río de la Plata, sería en realidad "un bife a la milanesa, y a su vez a la Napoli".

Neapolitan-style Schnitzel

En general, las comidas que son marcas culturales de un determinado país se dejan sin traducir, pero si hay que traducirlo de algún modo, lo haría así.

Milanesa Napolitana

I have seen this with its corresponding explanation in many Argentinian and Mexican restaurants in the USA and the UK. People omit "a la" to make its pronunciation easier.
