Spanish term

Despapelización

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Computers (general)
It refers to a bill aimed at replacing hard copies documents... It also refers to digital signatures, e-procurement, e-commerce. I know what it means but I don't know the exact term in English. Thanks in advance!!

johanna1 (asker) Jul 5, 2008:
Note from the asker Dear all,
That is the actual context, since it belongs to a list of terms used in a conference, it is not from a translation, otherwise I would have definitely copied the exact phase with additional with clarifying paragraphs. Anyhow, you did get the meaning and helped me a lot!
Thank you all!
Marina Soldati Jul 5, 2008:
It´s always better to have the actual context and not just an explanation. Bear this in mind for future questions, please.

going paper-free/paperless

This is how my bank and telephone company refer to it in England - we are all invited to "go paper-free", or to sign up for "paperless statements" or "paperless bills/billing"

paper use elimination

I have seen the word "depaperization" used in this context, but I don't think the meaning is clear unless there is adequate context to clarify it.

the object here appears to be the elimination of paper use, so I would translate it this way for the sake of clarity

agree Rosa Paredes : I agree with Glenn. Another option: Elimination of paper use

agree Martin Cassell : In a technical context (specialist journal, trade press release ...) this might be the appropriate term. I often (but not always) use this term in FR>EN for 'dématerialisation'
