It all comes from the family. Although two children from the same family can have totally different ways of dealing with a problem. It's in the family that values are put into education or not and that the child feels that their effort will be recognised and appreciated or not. The influence of the teacher comes third, after personality and family.

Lord Ashbrook added: “It is very much a family, country house garden. There have been no professional garden designers involved – it has all come from the family.

Thanks, Sam. That's actually why I omitted it -- context dependent.

everything originates in the family
Seems like a good option.

we are all children of our parents
Here's another way to put that.

: "We're all our parents' children" is, I believe, more common...

it runs in the family
It is traditional, it is inherited, predispositional
All day I have been wondering what is inside of me
Who can I blame for it? I say it runs in the family
(a line from a song by Amanda Palmer)
This is an example I found online:
Sofia is very absent-minded and unpractical; it runs in the family, I guess.
