A bill is a legislative proposal of a general nature. A bill may propose either a public or private matter, but both are numbered in the same sequence. Public bills are the most common.

?! Dacă bine am înţeles e vorba deci de prima fază, de cea de introducere a unui proiect de lege în dezbaterea Camerei. Iar răspunsul e chiar în textul pus la dispoziţie cu generozitate. Te rog , corectează-mă dacă greşesc: to promote, to put forward, to introduce, da? Şi dacă tot avem o discuţie atât de instructivă, poate mă lămureşti şi pe mine care diferenţa dintre "act" şi "bill" (if any). Mulţumesc pt. lecţie :)

context Din cauza asta cred că avem atât de multe variante! Cred că peste tot procedura este cam aceeaşi dar, nu e foarte clar la care fază se referă Ada. În ce sens "a promova"? A o înainta, a o vota (trece), a-i face lobby sau cum? Promulgarea legilor este o atribuţie a Preşedintelui.

to send the bill to the Chamber intai este propunerea de lege (nu lege) care se inainteaza, apoi, daca este aprobata sau votata, devine lege. In US se propune un "bill", care, daca este aprobat de cele doua camere ale parlamentului (Congres) este semnat de presedinte si devine lege.
