There are two tracks for the MA: comps( extra classes+ a qualifying paper or fewer classes + a thesis (MA);
for the PhD, it's a dissertation you have to "defend".

Multumesc mult Elena. I felt kind of lonely here although this is my area of expertise. Since the question is kind of vague, you can't be that adamant about one particular version and not look at other choices.

: you're right they use "thesis" for ANY paper for ANY academic degree, good thing you posted an answer , in this case licenta = graduation ** thesis** or BA/MA thesis depending on the context

Thank you Anca. I tried to cover all the possibilities but I'm lost in the "clamor" although I do work in education. It's not just "thesis"; it depends and I expect people to check up the links; that's why they are cited. Sorry for the frustration.
