Cesta basica e' uma criacao do governo brasileiro na area de politica social - cesta basica e' o conjunto de comidas basicas necessarias para assegurar nitricao adequeda para ume tipica pessoa. E se use para calcular o minimo custo para de se alimentar adequadamente, e a taxa de aumento nele, como tb para calcular o salario minimo.

Nos EUA, pelo menos, o Departamento de Agricultura ('USDA') atraves do Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion mantem a mesma coisa, e calcula o cust da cesta do Thrifty Food Plan.
