Hi, Andzej! I believe usage of "ancient" in English is different from that of "starożytny" in Polish. Please have a look here http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ancient ||| "starożytny" equals to 2nd meaning, while the 1st meaning is simply "old"
