Latin term
..... humanioribus studiis philosphiae, mathematicae et eloquantiae
Latin to English
Art/Literary
Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
from an American degree certificate. The university's on-line translation is wrong, I'm sure. It reads: the more humane studies of philosophy, science and eloquence. It is the "humanioribus studiis: which foxes me. Humaniores studiae yields nothing on the web and the university's web-site is useless.. Thanks for any help.

Studia humaniora
The university's translation is right, albeit perhaps too literal. "Studia humaniora" in Latin refers to what we nowadays call "humanist studies" or "humanities".
Note from asker:
Thank you, yes, I considered this. I didn't think that maths was a subject usually included in humanities. But the university's "more humane" can't possibly be a correct translation, can it. I'll go with your suggestion. Thanks again. J. |

Comment: "Thank you very much Joaquin. I used "Humanities" here. Cheers!"
