Japanese term

わが日の本は島国よ

Japanese to English Art/Literary Music
Actually, the reason I am asking this question is to see if anyone has the translated lyrics to the Yokohama City Song. Since it's been around for 100 years there's sure to be a translation, but I can't find it on the Internet.

For future reference, here is a (poor) English translation:

And here is a nice explanation of the song in Japanese:

Of course it's unofficial. I was never asking for an "official" translation.

Thanks for the link. However, on the top it clearly says that the translation is "unofficial". Therefore, I believe my answer below is still eligible (Of course, it's up to you to decide whether to accept my answer or not, so I'll just leave it up to you)

waga hinomoto wa shimaguniyo (insert your own translation for an exaplanation)

Casey, I don't think there is a English translation for this song. Is there a translation for the Star Spangled Banner in other languages (I assumed you are from the States)? I doubt so. FYI, as you might know, the Star Spangled Banner's translated title is 星条旗。I don't think that a city's song would even have a title translated into other language, since national anthems are on the level of title translations only.
Note from asker:
It's actually quite easy to find translations of the Star Spangled Banner in Spanish. I've seen it in Japanese, too. In fact, it was quite easy just now to find a translation on wiki (http://ja.wikisource.org/wiki/%E6%98%9F%E6%9D%A1%E6%97%97) When I worked in Nagano, I often saw songs translated into English. The Shinano song was in English in several pamphlets.

30 days

the beginning of our days is an island country

Giving at "beginnig" tihe meaning of "origin", the text could be of nationalism intent...looking at Japan (the island country) like the starting point of all, likewise the Sun (tayo=日) is the origin of imperial Japan. Mine is just an opinion. Thank you.
