Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Oct 15, 2004:
Further info./question It's used as: j񑊏, which is why I'm hesitant to use "sternum". If I understand the concept correctly (?), it means that [two parts] are asymmetrical. Maybe it means that the thoracic ribs on one side of the sternum are asymmetrical to those on the other side?

sternal ossification center

"kyokotsu" is sternum and "kokkaku" is ossification center, the author probably decided that they could delete one of the "kotsu"s

sternum

Declined
Kyoukotsukaku- 'kyoukotsu' is the sternum, while 'kaku' in this case refers to the center, or core of something (i.e,where the ribs connect to the breastbone). I think the best translation would simply be 'sternum'. I didn't use web references for this, only dictionaries; but they weren't medical dictionaries.

Comment: "Not technical enough in this context."
