in-house production

製造業に長いこといましたが良く使う言葉です。内製(外注しなく自分たちで造る)ことによりコストセーブや知識外漏れ防止、また”金(利益)”を外(の企業に)ださない、などが目的にあげられます。
Peer comment(s):

agree Derek Newpor (X) : agree but the addition of 'ka' suggests 'converting to in-house production', although i cannot find confirmation

agree MICHIRU YABU : "production" would fit for "生産" than "manufacture", and I would say "changing/switching to"for "ka".
3 hrs
agree mstkwasa : With Derek - there was a "conversion" or "switching" to in-house production to reduce spending on infrastructure. / Shellfrozen is right about what is being 内製化. The question is whether you prefer to say "produce" or "manufacture" the 設備 in question.
4 hrs
agree catlover : I agree with mstkwasa-san. "Switching to in-house production" should cover "化".
6 hrs
agree KathyT : As above :-)
7 hrs
agree Can Altinbay : I prefer this, too. "self-manufacture" may be in use, but I've never heard it. I would stay with more common terms.
9 hrs
disagree Kazumichi Sato (X) : This is *(少量多品種生産に対応した)セル生産方式の*設備の*内製化, not 材料の内製化 nor 部品の内製化. I think, in the formar case, "manufacture" is better, but in the latter case, "production" is better.
9 hrs
neutral ishigami : セル生産方式では、「からくり治具」など特殊な物を使い、なおかつセルの数が増えると外注では生産コストに跳ね返るため内製化せざるを得ないとの事情もあります。

in-house manufacturing

In-House Manufacturing of Equipment and Molds
A manufacturer's technological expertise is concentrated in its automated assembly equipment, processing equipment, measuring instruments, and other production equipment. Canon has accumulated technical expertise and realized cost reductions by shifting the in-house of production equipment and molds.

agree snowbees : Laudable input.

disagree MICHIRU YABU : I would use "production" in stead of "manufacturing" in this case, I assume that they just assembe parts, not creating. I am working at mold manufacturere, and I use "production" for "生産", and use "manufacture" for "製造".

when switching from divided tasks on an assembly line, to 'cell production'
agree Kazumichi Sato (X) : For セル生産方式, which is noted on the question, your references of Canon must be useful for the asker.
7 hrs
agree conejo : I worked in a Japanese transplant manufacturing plant for 3 years, and we always said "manufacture in-house" or "assemble in-house". It is a common expression.
