I can only guess at the meaning attributed to this word in your context - assuming there is no typo (is the Italian 100%? - "si tesa" sounds a bit strange to me...); -Maybe- "infiascamento" could indicate the tendency of your power transmission rod to display a degree of compressive deformation around the circumference on which the clamping action of your damper is concentrated; perhaps, in this case, the reference would be to the "shape" of the "flask", with its flared mouth and body and narrow neck.
Take this suggestion with sufficient salt to grit an average motorway, and you should be safe.

Comment: "Dear Derek, I'm sorry I took so long to get back, but I had the time and didn't have to make up my mind until this morning. I agree with you on what the phenomenon involved probably is. Another good term may be "crimping" but again, that may not be what they mean. I asked the customer and they didn't know what the term meant. It doesn't appear to be a technical term. I thought of "bottlenecking" but I don't like it since it already has a different meanings and connotations.
