Mausi in Hindi means "maa jaisi" that is to say, "like the mother" "as good as mother". It is a beautiful relationship.

: Hindi is pretty rich in this respect as it has separate words for mother's sister, father's sister, mother's brother's wife, father's brothers wife i.e.Mausi, BuA, MAmii & TAii respectively but English has just Aunt or Aunty for all of these relations.
