provision

The term प्रावधान is an official translation for the source 'provision’. A while ago cdac created a terminology web dictionary based on almost a century old orthodox terms created by officials for the government. So you can find this translated term in either cdac dicts' or on any online dict. based on cdac data.
For provision, there are other terms like व्‍यवस्‍था, प्रबंध, बंदोबस्‍त and so on and as you know, it is context dependent.

Hi Ramesh, The explanation I have given here is for the reason that, you will find some more terms, which are consistently in use by translators and still you will not be able to find them in standard dictionaries. The reason is; standard dictionary makers use terms, which are publicly famous and just official. I hope you may have got my point.

Thank you Dear Friend! I have three dictionaries, good ones, but none contained the term. I was wondering why this is so. It is in fact a Nepali word as well, and it doesn't exist even in the best Nepali dictionary as well.

प्रावधान

It does exist in almost all standard dictionaries.

For example, I found it on page 757 of बृहत हिन्दी कोश, ज्ञानमंडल लिमिटेड, वाराणसी where its meaning has been given as 'किसी कानून के साथ कोई शर्त रख देने का कार्य, उपबंध (provision)'.

It also exists in the online shabkosh.

There is another similar sounding word with different spellings (प्राविधान) which is also used in the same contexts. Please see if it is used in Nepali.

प्राविधान also isn't in the dictionary published by Official Academy of Arts and Languages. प्रावार, प्राविधिक, प्राविधिज्ञ are the only words containing प्राव
