Is it possible the _Spülung_ serves the purpose of _Kühlung_, i.e. that the terms are synonymous?

On the other hand, this being a patent especially, Gemischkühlung might be a new concept (e.g., the mixture is used for cleansing or lubrication rather than cooling).

The term spülen refers to expelling exhaust gasess from the combustion chamber by the incoming mixture. A similar patent states: Um die Spülverluste zu senken, ist vorgesehen daß über die gesamte Dauer des Gaswechsels im auslaßnahen Bereich...
The english synopsis has here: ...in the area further away from the outlet, for the entire of the gas exchange process, in order to reduce scavanging losses.
I know exactly what happens, but can not find a single reference tying it into a neat package like "gemischgespült".
