Überschrift einer Presseaussendung der Stadt Klagenfurt, einer der Austragungsstädte der Euro 08:
EUROPAS FUSSBALL TRIFFT SICH IN DER SÜDKURVE ÖSTERREICHS
Das Wortspiel (Kurve = best. Bereich im Fußballstadion und Klagenfurt im südl. Teil Österreichs) bereitet mir arges Kopfzerbrechen. Irgendwelche Ideen, wie man das Fußballbild und den Süden vereinen kann?

There might well be options for completely rewriting it, but the only 1:1 solution I can think of is this.
In the UK, the "X-Kurve" is most commonly the "X-Stand" or the "X-End" (e.g. the Holte End at Villa)
The "home end" in Arsenals old stadium at Highbury was the "North End" - which was what inspired my suggestion. It sort of works in your context.

: I hate to nitpick, Hermann, but that would be "südlich gelegene Kurve" - I can't imagine any ground in the UK having a stand called that. ;-)

usually a connotation for a section of a football ground where the most fanatic home fans gather .... like the Kop at Liverpool's Anfoeld Road ground.

in England probably "Stand" is more commonly used...whether North, South, East or West. In Germany the talk is almost ivariablyabout "die Kurve" .... either Nord, Sued, Ost or Westkurve. Maybe because it is usually the "curved" area behing one of the goals ... hence Kurve or curve.

This may be WAY off the mark but I just had a little thought about how to render the whole sentence. What about:
