German term
Streckenware
German to English
Bus/Financial
Retail
This term appears in a document I am translating for a German supermarket chain.
The document states that 'Streckenware' are the property of the supermarket. It contrasts this with 'Importware' which remain the property of their supplier until they are sold.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Declined
Because of the contrast with "Importware" I think this may be meant.

"regional products" could also be an alternative. Strecke = region

Could this be related to "Streckengeschäft", which is a transport/logistics term? See http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/transport_transp...

: Streckegngeschäft is usually translated as "forward transactions" or "drop shipment".

I know but 'Streckenware' might be 'shorthand' for 'Ware, die im Streckengeschäft befördert wurde'.

This cropped up in http://deu.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_italian/marketing_market...
