Glossary entry (derived from question below)
German term or phrase:
Öffnen der Blutsperre
English translation:
removal of the tourniquet
German term
Öffnen der Blutsperre
"Nach dem Öffnen der Blutsperre wird eine sorgfältige Blutstillung vorgenommen."
The end of my knee endoprosthesis text is at last in sight! The last paragraph is dealing with wound closure.
"Blutsperre" is "arrest of blood supply" according to the Roche Lexikon Medizin. Eurodicautom offers "blood arrest" and "arrest of blood circulation". However, none of these terms get many search engine hits, which is rather surprising. Moreover, none of these terms goes very well with the verb "öffnen".
At the moment, I'm saying "when the blood supply is freed up", which doesn't sound much like what a doctor would say. But I'm at a loss to know how exactly to translate this. TIA for your assistance.
