German term

Foramenverschlussschmerz

German to English Medical Medical (general) Orthopedics
In a German medical report, patient has both cervical and lumbar back pain:

"Kein Foramenverschlussschmerz oder Kompressions-Extraktionsschmerz."

I can't find anything on "Foramenverschlussschmerz" in the Internet so don't know how to translate it into English. Is it the same as pain from foraminal stenosis?

Kompressionsschmerz I understand. Please see my other question on "Extraktionsschmerz".

Thanks,

Stephen

Discussion

Sabine Akabayov, PhD Jul 8, 2011:
stenosis is divided into grades grade 1/2 would be a mild stenosis and grade 4 a complete stenosis (which would be the equivalent to closure)
I would also think, that you cannot determine if the stenosis is 99% (still narrowing) or 100% (closure) without imaging.
Lirka Jul 7, 2011:
@sibsab: stenosis is narrowing which is not the same as closure
Sabine Akabayov, PhD Jul 7, 2011:
foraminal stenosis I would use your suggestion for Foramenverschluss

pain resulting from the closure of the intervertebral foramen

if the intervertebral foramen narrows or closes, nerve root entrapment results--> pain.
