German term

atü

German to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
In einer Tabelle eines Herkatheterprotokolls steht:
Implantierte Stents:
Größe: 3,0*12mm, 16 atü

The definitions in the glossary are atmosphere and bar; somehow I don't think either of these would be correct here. Thanks for your input

bar

The glossaries are right (IMO). I've seen "bar" describing the level of pressure in inflatable medical devices. Aren't stents brought into form with balloons (see: http://www.endolab.de/implantat/gefaess/pi_16.htm)?
:-)

Of course, they aren\'t \"brought into form\", but \"deployed\"...

Thanks Thomas.
agree Klaus Herrmann : But watch out for the extra bar when converting to bar (16 atü = 17 at!)

You never cease to amaze me! It's a good thing I didn't attempt to translate the whole bit... I wasn't aware of the conversion factor - thank you! :-)

agree Fantutti (X) : I wonder if the English version would be dynes/cm2. Just wondering, I'm not sure at all

disagree Klaus Herrmann : Your reference tells us (rightly so): am 01.01.1978 wurde es durch das Bar ersetzt und ist seither verboten.

You are right, Klaus - missed this
