German term

Sitz

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
I have a largely commercial contract file relating to high-pressure valves in which large parts are pre-translated - but sometimes poorly so. The term "Sitz" appears in a section on the service lives of compnents and is translated as "hub" ("Dichtungen, Sitzen, Spindeln und Spindelmuttern"). I think it should be "seating" or "seat". Can anyone with more expertise confirm or otherwise?

agree Patrick Johnson : If the subject is definitely valves, yes I would agree. However, one of my dictionaries also gives "hub", and taking into account the spindles and spindle nuts is there any outside chance the subject could be machine tools?
