German term

Wirtschaftsstrafrecht

German to English Law/Patents Law (general) Wirtschaft
Dietl has "law concerning economic offences"; I certainly can't find ANY sites with that wording. How about "Economic Criminal Law"? Thanks in advance!

Non-ProZ.com Nov 18, 2004:
Thank you for commenting Tamara! Yes, this is less an Act and more a term naming a specific part of criminal law (the word "law" describing the system comprising of the statutes). Unfortunately, I can not paraphrase it too much in my particular case, though I generally agree with you (it is a heading).
Tamara Ferencak Nov 18, 2004:
You are certainly right, but as far as I can see, your text relates to German "legal specialties".... It isn't even the correct name of an Act or something, so I'd rather paraphrase it ...:-)))
Non-ProZ.com Nov 18, 2004:
Yes, you are right; but almost all of the hits are for German sites (=translations probably done with guidance from Dietl/Lorenz). ;-) I didn't find many 'native' sites using that term (please correct me if I am wrong). :-)
Tamara Ferencak Nov 18, 2004:
Dietl/Lorenz suggests "Law relating to economic offences", this even gets a few google hits...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you Allesklar! I also liked "financial tort law complex" suggested by Klaus, but tort law is a part of 'civil law', whereas this is dealing with 'criminal law'. I thought of an additional term that may work: "commercial criminal law". Again, thanks to everyone who helped. :-)"

financial tort law complex

You wouldn't say economic, since it deals with bribery, embezzlement, theft, fraudulent accounting, money-laundering, perjury, all of which involve (hold your breath now):
M-O-N-E-Y !
