German term

bei einer Rabattierung eingerechnet

German to English Bus/Financial Law: Contract(s)
"Fallen über das Angebot hinaus weitere Arbeiten an, können die bisher geleisteten Stunden bei einer Rabattierung eingerechnet werden."

Context: A clause in a company's AGB.

I can translate this as "If the amount of work exceeds that stated in the offer, the hours worked to date may be included at at a discount" but it doesn't make much sense to me. Can someone explain to me what they mean by it?

TIA.

Bulk discount at its best I am not sure if the source is perfect! There would have been many opportunities to express it more clearly.

In fact it is about the distinction of a volume discount or something like a discount increasing after a specified volume has been bought.

If you include the previous transactions into the rebate you have the following terms and conditions: Discount X % on the total order volume beginning from the first hour paird.

On the other hand if you wouldn't include the previous transactions the customer would have to pay transaction 1, transaction 2.... until a specified amount in full. Only transactions afterwards will be discounted.

Your source states that the previously worked hours can be included into the discount.

Hope this helps.

included at the discounted rate

In my understanding it means that the extra hours will also be billed at the discounted rate (and not at the standard rate).

will be credited towards possible discounts

“If the value of the work exceeds the contract price, all work performed will be credited/applied towards possible discounts.” T

There wouldn’t be any discounts without exceeding the targeted volume in the first place, so one might conclude that counting in all work is more appropriate than just issuing a discount going forward once a specified volume has been reached.

in case of a discount

I am not so sure, but 'bei' also means during or in case of. So if there is a discount then the worked hours till date are included in this discount.

offset against discount

A hires B to do a job with B promising a volume discount.
The target volume is reached so the discount comes into effect.

However, B ends up having to perform additional tasks, not specified in the original agreement. So instead of granting the full discount, B subtracts his additional costs from it.

At least it makes sense that way, to me.
