German term
Nutzungsnehmer/Nutzungsgeber
German to English
Law/Patents
Law: Contract(s)
Der Nutzungsgeber gewährt dem Nutzungsnehmer zu den nachstehenden Bedingungen ein nicht übertragbares und nicht ausschliessliches Recht zur Nutzung des im Vertrag aufgelisteten Datenmaterials.
This is a Swiss contract for a company granting the right to use PLC programs to another company. The terms 'Nutzungsnehmer' and 'Nutzungsgeber' are used throughout to refer to the respective parties.
I am looking for suitable terms for each and am also considering the possiblity of describing the role of each company one time and referring to each company by name in the rest of the contract.
Thanks for any suggestions.

licensee/licensor
I strongly suspect that this is about a licence (BrE)/license (AmE) to use (data/programs) that the Nutzungsgeber grants to the Nutzungsnehmer, hence my suggestion. Does the Nutzungsnehmer have to pay for this?

"licence/license to use", as already pointed out in my comment, or even "right to use".
http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-license-agreement.html might provide useful phrases, too.

Note from asker:
Steffen, Thanks for your input. As I was working on the translation, it became clear to me that this is indeed about a license. Yes, the Nutzungsnehmer has to pay for the data. Other terms in the contract are: Nutzungsrecht Nutzungsbedingung Nutzungsvertrag Along these same lines, I think the latter two could be license condition and license contract. Any suggestion for Nutzungsrecht? |
Or actually, Nutzungsvertrag might be better translated as license agreement. |

Comment: "Thanks again, Steffen. The reference is extremely helpful, as well!"

How about (service) recipient and (service) provider? These are blanket terms that might fit the context.
