German term

gemischte Lebensversicherung auf Todes- und Erlebensfall

German to English Bus/Financial Insurance
I have seen the glossaries and looked in my dictionaries, but don´t seem to be able to find a conclusive answer

This is a text regarding Holocaust Era (life) insurance claims

My text refers to the same policy as
"gemischte Lebensversicherung auf Todes- und Erlebensfall"
and
Kapitalvers. auf den Todes- u. Erlebensfall

is this now a variable insurance for ???? or a
fixed term insurance or an
endowment policy?
It looks there is something missing, no matter what I pick
Any insurance specialists out there who can clear this up for me?
Thanks a lot

Discussion

Christine Lam (asker) May 27, 2006:
I am certain that there is a technical term for this, but as mentioned above, e. g. fixed term insurance does not cover the Erlebensfall bit and endowment policy does not cover the Todesfall bit, and both options do not include the gemischt bit
Christine Lam (asker) May 27, 2006:
sorry for not being clear: I am looking for the translation of the complete terms
"gemischte Lebensversicherung auf Todes- und Erlebensfall" and
"Kapitalversicherung auf den Todes- und Erlebensfall". And I posted it as one because in my text these two terms refer to the same policy

German term (edited): Todes- und Erlebensfall

in case of death or when one lives to see the fruition of the insurance

I'm not quite sure what you want to have translated here. But the double-term "Todes- und Erlebensfall" contains an abbreviation. In full it is "Todesfall und Erlebensfall", the latter meaning "in case on lives to see it". So I think my translation (see above!) ought to be correct.
