You mean DC instead of string - a viable option. But Moeller created this term for their "PV-breakers". And their documentation in English is reliable.

: Yep, he's right. The "string" refers to the grouping of photovoltaic panels/modules. A string is a number of modules connected in series (a number of strings connected in parallel is called an array).
