Some possibilities: crab, carabiner, karabiner, snap, snap hook, snap-lock, clasp - but which is best? Experienced mountaineers needed!

Hello Shelia, I'm not an expert, but I'm wondering why you couldn't just use "crab", as it is for climbing mountains. But you will probably have an experienced mountaineer on line in a few minutes. Good luck.
