New implant design: comparative study.

It is extremely interesting to be able to turn the implant in clockwise or anticlockwise sense intra-operatively. Indeed, it has been shown that an implant turns significantly following removal of the viscoelastic. [11] Therefore an implant whose platform enables slight adjustments to its orientation after removal of the viscoelastic is advantageous in comparison to other existing types of implants.
*Pour les navettes*, l’alignement doit se faire avec une haptique dans le sac et l’autre partie à l’extérieur ; une rotation peut intervenir lors de l’insertion de la deuxième haptique dans le sac par suite d’une légère erreur dans le geste chirurgical;

Discussion

Ellen Kraus Oct 5, 2012:
I´m aware of that. but as os scaphoideum (equally Kahnbein in German, Kahn meaning a small boat) it´s also a bone of the hand. What I meant to point out was that the implant is navicular-shaped, having the same form as the bones referred to above.
philgoddard Oct 5, 2012:
No. The navicular bone is in the foot.
Ellen Kraus Oct 5, 2012:
navicular bone ( couldnt it be the navicular bone (though I am sceptic owing to its being used in plural in this context) navicular means small boat-shaped.
philgoddard Oct 5, 2012:
It may be a reference to the shape of the implant. It's a curved rectangle that looks a bit like a boat, though that may be coincidence. The Zeiss PRL is described as a navette, but I can't find the English.
Timothy Rake Oct 5, 2012:
possibility?? Could it refer to the implant "pouches" - in other words the "bag" or whatever that contains the implant (silicone??) material?
philgoddard Oct 5, 2012:
'Interesting" sounds like it may be a mistranslation of something like "intéressant" or "de grand interêt". It means "useful" or "beneficial". And "sense" is not right either - "sens" means "direction", though you could just leave it out and say "turn it clockwise or anticlockwise."
