French to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Fabrication of tyres - Michelin
I am translating a set of word documents, with no images, for Michelin. The general content is the fabrication of tyres, so machinery.

Unfortunately, most of the "sentences" are two worders, and I do not have a lot to go on so if anyone can bounce ideas around with me, that'd be great as it is a recurrent term.

Have asked client but no response as such, have tried google images as one of the machines was called the Chuteuse métal PANDA and all I got was a heavy metal panda! Very cute but not helpful!

Metal cropper Still no word from the client, which is typical, so I'm opting for metal cropper unless informed otherwise. Thank you very much to everyone for participating, much appreciated, and I'm somewhat reassured that I wasn't alone in my confusion (and love of heavy metal pandas!)!

Certainly better than "falls gum machine" which sounds like a barmy mechanical translation derived from "chute" and "gomme". The only metal parts of a tyre are the two beads on either side and a wire braid under the tread.

crop-end = chute si cela peut vous mettre sur la voie ! C'est le terme utilisé et figurant dans le glossaire par un transformateur de feuillard.

CHUTEUSE chute is indeed a small bit having been taken off from a part under machining. So a machine cutting off a part of a semifinished product could be called une chuteuse and that would be different from an ébarbeuse.

Falls gum machine I also found that link, both in French and in English, but wasn't sure if that was the correct machine given that I don't have any images and Michelin seem to create their own words sometimes...

Wheel rim welding trimmer

I have no idea if this is actually what Michelin are referring to. It's in the realm of 'intelligent guess' I think, so I've put confidence level at "medium" :-)

The two machines in the websites below are made by a same Chinese company, Zhenhuan (the Panda connection??). I'm not sure if both sites describe exactly the same machine, but they both appear to trim (crop?) welding/slag off wheels.

They are variously described on the sites as:

wheel rim trimming machine; auto rim welding trimmer; wheel rim welding seam trimmer; auto wheel rim trimming machine; wheel slag trimmer; welding slag trimmer; weld slag trimming machine; wheel welding slag trimmer; steel wheel weld slag trimmer... whew!

ps. I believe the reference to 'tubeless' on the second site to relate to the type of (metal/steel) wheels that the machine handles (ie. those that take tubeless tyres).
