French term
originaire de
Originally from? But what if he died exactly there? I mean he did. Does it still make sense then? Also, I understand "a native of" is not applicable here as you cannot be a native son of two places of birth.
Just in case you do GER -> ENG, I need to know how exactly to say that unique Swiss "von + Bürgerort" type of thing in English. From? Can you have two Bürgerorte? KudoZ has "place of family origin", suggested by a DE speaker.
So maybe "place of family origin/registered place of origin" it is then? If so, which one is more appropriate? Or am I complicating matters in regard to something very straightforward just now?

: Both "of" and "hailing from" ignore the specific Swiss administrative meaning of the term (specifically relating to the registration of its citizens), not to mention confusing the potential reader with vagaries. Big no no

: Also, "hailing from" is inappropriately colloquial.

: "Place of origin" is also the translation I've most often seen from DE, as well as being a literal trans. of FR lieu d'origine and IT luogo di origine. Cf. https://www.proz.com/kudoz/german-to-english/other/646231-he... (Heimatort=Bürgerort)
