Sheila Wilson
: Sounds very natural in the context given. IMO, practically every occurrence of "valoriser" needs a different translation.

act as if someone is better than someone else
Hello,
It's really hard to tell you what the best translation would be here, considering there's such limited context.
It seems to be about acting as if someone as if he or she is better than someone else. But we'd have to know more context to know what the best word would be in English.
"Valoriser" is a very "all-purpose" French word that requires a "specific" word in English.
I hope this helps.

Discussion
Some ideas from Kiwipedia:
give new life (new-life as adj. for "valorisé"); promote self-worth, make rewarding, (self-)image boosting; foster image (as seen by others); accentuate.
Could you give us some of the lead-in to and lead-out from your expression?
I can even see it meaning "give more worth" not to the person but "to the job carried out by a person"; so, on the assembly line, Joe Bloggs (or Simon Schuster on the next shift) fitting seat belts to the chassis might be "valorisé", in some way, with respect to Alain Duvilliers (or Petra Petralski on the next shift) fitting headlights. Context really is needed.
