French term

glace à rafraîchir

French to English Other Food & Drink product descriptions
From an ingredients list for the baking industry. It's at the end of a fairly miscellaneous list; here are the previous items: "sel, moutarde; vinaigre, sauces (condiments); épices; glace à rafraîchir."

This is an urgent job that I have to finish today - thanks for your help.

ice for cooling

I think the "for cooling" is essential here, since it makes it clear that the ice is not part of the recipe as such.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "All the answers were OK, but when I was sitting in front of the source text, this seemed to fit best to me, so it's what I used. I wanted to make it clear that it wasn't ice cream, or "ice for eating". Thank you."

I have seen various Google hits with \"resfreshment\" or \"refresher\" but it\'s surely superfluous here. I would simply say \"ice\"

ice versus ice cubes

WHen you buy ice in the US in the summer at a gas station or convenience store, it is in the form of cubes of ice in plastic bags. Glace a rafraichir actually means that....not a SLAB of ice....see how it is used in this paragraph for a French camping site....in other words, it's glaçons...which is usually ice cubes but thast term is used only for enough cubes for a glass or bowl...A bunch of that is glace a rafraichir.....CUBES..now, you can just say ice as in English or you can make it completely clear and say. ice cubes...your choice....
