(one-off) make-up exam
In most French business schools, students are required to get a pass grade in each subject (i.e. their average grade for the subject must be above a certain level). If they don't they have to carry out an additional requirement (exam, paper, project, etc.) to make up for their grade. This is probably the "rattrapage global" which is described in the "règles du BBA" are.
What I understand here, is that in the subject, students who need it can take a one-off make-up exam after the first one (the grade obtained will either replace or mitigate the original one), to raise their average and avoid the extra requirement.

French term (edited):
rattrapage sec, - global
single re-sit, - overall re-sit
"Rattrapage" is a colloquial term for what is otherwise generally referred to as a "seconde session", but there are several types of re-sit. In your original, two types of re-sit are provided for here.
Your original describes two examinations and a short dissertation/report.
If the student does not quite come up to the mark, then he/she can :
- Re-sit the first examination (“rattrapage sec”) which entitles him/her to the pass mark, whatever the actual mark obtained. In other words, upon a re-sit, even if the result is actually worth 15/20, it will only ever count for 10/20.
- Re-sit the whole lot in accordance with the BBA rules

If you have the name of the institution, it should be possible to track down the original text for reference purposes. Also, is the original metropolitan France? Is it Canadian? In France, the EDHEC runs a BBA which there stands for "Bachelor in Business Administration" :
